Toon Zone Forum – Bonus Material, Disc Count for animated “Batman,” “Superman,” and “Superfriends” DVDs

Hmmm

Toon Zone Forum – Bonus Material, Disc Count for animated “Batman,” “Superman,” and “Superfriends” DVDs

A representative for WB Home Video was also quick to correct recent false information, stating only Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, and Challenge of the Superfriends will be coming out as multi-disc boxed sets for the foreseeable future. Future releases of other super hero properties, such as Teen Titans, Justice League, and possibly Batman Beyond, will only be released as single, episodic DVDs. These single disc DVDs will hit shelves the same time the larger, multi-disc sets are released.

O joy! joy! joy! and I think they said a multidisc set for Batman TAS. If only they have a multidisc set sometime in the future for Batman Beyond!
*rapture*

A representative for WB confirmed that more Batman Beyond DVDs will be released later in the year. The next single disc release is expected to hit shelves around the same time as the Batman: The Animated Series multi-disc set. According to preliminary information, which is subject to change, the DVDs will keep the “six episodes per disc” format. There is currently no information on extras, or episode presentation. WB states they still plan to release every episode of Batman Beyond to DVD.

Me

It occurred to me that I never introduced myself to myself in my weblog.
So to remedy this problem:

I’m a displaced tropical island girl, and not even your typical island girl at that!
I’m in grad school in Massachusetts studying for a Master’s in Computer Science->Artificial Intelligence->Machine Learning (well I’m technically in the MS/PhD programme but dropping out after I get the MS, hopefully by the end of May).
I’m from Trinidad & Tobago (and I can’t wait to go back…where I belong, where there’s food I miss, where the seasons are right and there’s NO SNOW! and where my family is based).
I’m muslim and I’m 24.
There’s pretty much nothing going on in my life right now…and there probably never will be but hey!
I read alot, probably too much and sleep alot and then starve alot (not because I have an eating disorder, just because work sucks and I sometimes don’t get around to getting groceries and it’s easier to go to sleep than stumble through the process).
I like cartoons (Batman, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Inu Yasha, Rurouni Kenshin).
I like Mutant Enemy (FIREFLY, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and CSI (the original one).
Movies are cool but I can tell you about them when I think about them.

As I said I read alot, and I intend to post about the books I’m currently reading at any given point so more later on that..oh wait, genres I like fantasy and science fiction, children and young adult books, mysteries, some westerns and some horror and am always willing to expand my horizons.

I think I need a sticky for this so I will try that later! :-)
I think there’s a hack for it.

Missing a Wedding

I’m sort of sad today because I’m missing my friends’ wedding. I’ve been looking forward to it for about three years. Initially it was scheduled for this summer (except we don’t have summer back home in Trinidad & Tobago) but it kept getting moved up earlier and earlier for various reasons, some of which I know or can guess.

So I intend to graduate in May and the last I’d heard was that it was in June so that I’d make it back just in time to get clothes made and go. But last week the groom emailed me to say it got moved to April 4th, this Sunday.

And this was the first wedding of my very own that I got invited to and I was so looking forward to it because I would probably see some friends (or at least the bride’s friends) from undergrad and at least start to feel my way back home and see how out of it I felt. This is of course minor to the me not getting to go to my very good friend’s wedding from undergrad…so I’m depressed. I haven’t even figured out what to get them yet. I could just get them a check :-) but I like gifts except I’ve never gotten anybody a wedding gift before so I don’t know how or what to get.

So the wedding is Sunday but the last I heard was that it was a full works Hindu wedding and I was invited to all days which means there would be something called Matikoor (really don’t know how to spell it) tonight when they do some special ceremony/ritual and I wouldn’t've had to get all dressed up, but I would probably have been wearing a skirt anyway but basically casual I think.

Saturday is usually less formal, when people just drop by and maybe they do stuff but I could’ve been in jeans I’m told. And it’s also usually when alot of the cooking takes place.

Sunday would have been the actual wedding ceremony (you know, sort of like I do’s except that’s not for a Hindu wedding and I would’ve had to be well, dressed up.

And the next Sunday, second Sunday would be the reception. Sometime in the intervening week the bride would return home and the groom would fetch her on Second Sunday. And I guess casual would work for this too.

Now don’t think I’m clothes obsessed. In fact this is probably the only reason I’m slightly relieved, not having to figure out what to wear and get it made and dressing up and *argh*. As I’ve said before, I’m a jeans kinda girl.

Oh, another thing that had me worried was that I don’t drink and am not very comfortable around people who are drinking, especially in excess (which is what happens at these weddings). Casually and not much I can survive but out of control or something, I’m just totally out of my element, which the bride knows and invited me for all days but warned me. But I was going anyway you know.

And now I’m missing it.
I really wanted to go.

:-(

Skirt Day

Today is a Skirt Day

This is the day, generally referred to be females who wear jeans or pants nearly all the time, when they have no choice but to wear a skirt.

It is also known as Laundry Day.
You think I jest? Well, this is the typical conversation a woman may have in a restroom or in another place where ladies gather:

Woman 1: You don’t usually dress up! You look nice.
Woman 2: um..
Woman 1: Is it a special occasion? Do you have a meeting?
Woman 2: (grimaces) No.
Woman 1: Ah! (realization dawns) It’s laundry day, isn’t it?
Woman 2: Yes it is :-(
(Woman 1 grimaces in sympathy)

Another incantation of Skirt Day is when a group of such females decide together that on day X they will all wear a skirt just for a change and they will do it together in solidarity so if someone comments on one of them, they will have to comment on all.

I myself have never participated in this collaborative effort, but I have seen the females in my sister’s lab do it.
I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of skirt days I had while in undergrad and that is including the dress up days (some special holiday/festival when I figured I would get all dressed up to celebrate and that isn’t really a skirt day). I was lucky then. My mother is a manic washerholic. By the time I reached undergrad she washed clothes every single day. If we weren’t careful our jeans would be washed that often!!!

In grad school, where I am now, when I’m depressed and not in the mood, I postpone laundry day until absolutely necessary.

So, today is a skirt day.

And it is notoriously difficult to either get skirts with decent pockets or get seamstressed to put decent pockets in them.

Skirt Days are horrendous.

Greetings, Lily is back to posting

and testing weird things.
