Mom & Food

You know all those times I complain when there’s no food in the apartment?
Well silly me. There seems to be stuff because mom cooked this morning after Fajr (early morning prayers). She said she would be quiet and not disturb my sleep. YEAH RIGHT!

But back to food.

There’s frozen lamb which I bake every now and again. There’s bulgar wheat which I bought once to make kibbe a year ago (and did make it! and it was good). There’s pinto beans which I bought for who knows what and must have used and then later used to hold down the parchment paper in a lemon meringue pie crust for the initial setting/baking.

When I was trying to lower my carbohydrate intake because I am insulin resistant I also bought lots of things so she had sun dried tomatoes in a jar, some sort of pickeld red peppers in a jar, horseradish seasong. She found the garlic in my freezer and grated it up.

So I had a very very very good lunch. Why can’t I do stuff like that? I mean none of it came from any of my recent grocery expeditions!!

Oh, she also found all those weird spices I have (lychee and stuff) and boiled it with her tea.

She’s made my fridge look neat and orderly. Of course, you have to understand it wasn’t untidy before. But she brought me stuff so it got cluttered because I just shoved everything in as I was tired.

She’s home alone in my apartment now because I have a meeting I couldn’t reschedule.

Who knows what will have happened by the time I return at 6pm.

eep!

  3. Awww, stop bragging, I have to cook for myself, you know. And pray tell, what wonderful thing did Mom make for you? Usually her cooking skills for small numbers aren’t’ quite as spectacular as for 50 persons or more.

  4. haha! i’m not bragging
