June 1st
Hey all.
It’s the official start of the rainy season back home in Trinidad & Tobago.
Just felt like saying that.
Anyway, I am furiously working on my introduction to my paper (and the other parts too) and have set myself a deadline for another draft of Friday 4th, June, 2004. Hopefully I can do a decent one with citations and only minor changes necessary and that my reader will like it too and I can go home as soon as she says it’s okay. If I’m lucky …two and a half weeks?
Unfortunately I don’t think I’m lucky or that I can write the stupid thing because I can’t seem to make things work or write what I need to write or…well sometimes you know when you’ve been doing something for so long you lose sight of why you are doing it? Well I can’t always remember why anyone would want to do this project or why it’s of interest to anybody …

I can relate. Sending good paper-writing vibes your way…

Picture the paper in it’s underwear… oh wait… wrong situation. Ahh well. :P Hope things are going better now!
Comment by Jess — Tuesday 1st, June 2004 @ 2:06 pm
Hmmm. She’s meant to be concentrating. Mind you if I could imagine the paper to be somewhat “curvy” instead of oblong I think it could work for me. I shall deny I said this. ;)
Comment by Stuart — Tuesday 1st, June 2004 @ 3:04 pm
Like me, instead of working, I’m blogging… distractions eat up my time and then? Panic. Hope you make a dent. ;-)
Comment by Laika — Tuesday 1st, June 2004 @ 3:28 pm
Awh, nothing like working till the 11th hour on a paper. :) And just think, if this makes you feel better, over here on the West Coast of Canada, its rainy season all year round!…. except where I live. :)

You have just commented 3 times in quick succession. Maybe it thinks your spamming?? I’m glad to hear curvy paper doesn’t do it for you. That was meant for me. ;)
Comment by Stuart — Tuesday 1st, June 2004 @ 9:38 pm
i wish
i tried to edit the comment 6 before posting 7 and 8 to put in bullets for the list but it wouldn’t
it said:
then i made the other comments and could edit those
i’m wondering if it has something to do with single and double quotes
*sigh*

It might be that apostophie before the “m”. Don’t know why it should do it though. Do you have the markdown plugin activated or maybe one of the 2 textile plugins? You should only have one of them activated. I prefer markdown but that’s just me. They check the text to ensure it is XHTML compliant. Can you delete the comment?
Comment by Stuart — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 2:38 am
i only have search hilite activated
should i have any of them activated?
hmm
the xhtml one i guess…
Comment by Lily — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 9:47 am
well i just deleted it :-(
Comment by Lily — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 9:49 am
Yes I think you are as well having one of those three I mentioned activated but ONLY one cuz they will conflict. As for anything else that’s up to you. I have a couple of extras in the smilies and stats plugins. Let me make sure I didn’t misunderstand what you said. If a plugin is activated it will say “deactivate” in that column. This seems backward to me but that’s the way it is. I mean they are using the right words but I would have thought sticking a “d” on the end and having it the other way round would have been more logical. Just thought I’d mention it in case you have it backwards.
Comment by Stuart — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 3:32 pm
well i don’t think it was a technical difficulty cuz of the plugins cuz none of them were activated
*sigh*
Comment by Lily — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 8:30 pm
So you did get it backwards. :( I think it is confusing. I might post it on the WP board tomorrow.
Comment by Stuart — Wednesday 2nd, June 2004 @ 8:46 pm
Hey I just caught your other page. Another nice picie. :)
Comment by Stuart — Thursday 3rd, June 2004 @ 5:51 am
How goes, Lily? You’ve been eerily quiet of late. :-O
Comment by Jess — Thursday 3rd, June 2004 @ 8:01 pm
no no no..i didn’t get it backwards…i only had one activated and nothing else…
wasn’t that what i said?
oh i just reread my posts
i only had the hilite activated, when i said none of them were activated, i meant the ones you were talking about :-)
other page, do you mean my livejournal?
i’m argh swamped and just want to go home and can’t write :(
Comment by Lily — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 2:29 am
Could you finish from home?
Comment by Jess — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 3:33 am
possibly…i haven’t discussed it with him
i mean i could email it back and forth and such…and then email it to the reader
but the thing is, and i haven’t told him, there is a bug in the program that i still haven’t worked out
argh
i wish i could
lots of people leave and do it at home…don’t they
i don’t know :-(
i only just frantically came downstairs to see what account i emailed him from
going back to sleep!
Comment by Lily — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 4:14 am
You might be more at ease working from home – worth asking about at least, I would think. :D
Comment by Jess — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 10:04 am
except what if he thinks i might get no work done
and what if i need lots of meetings
ack
and he’s not a by email sorta prof
eep
i wish tho…
Comment by Lily — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 10:40 am
Won’t happen if you don’t ask. Never know. ;)
Comment by Jess — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 10:55 am
hey, do you ever sleep? :-)
hehehe…people usually ask me that question!
Comment by Lily — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 11:10 am
Sleep and having an infant don’t play well together. :P I’m planning on taking a bit of a snooze now though. Wish me luck, haha.
Comment by Jess — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 2:05 pm
i always knew infants were overrated!
Comment by Lily — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 2:30 pm
Actually I meant Dragon’s page. It’s not in your menu. I just got it by accident. Oops. How come you don’t let the smilies work. Well apart from these:-
:dragon3:
Comment by Stuart — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 6:13 pm
I can tell you from experience that Jess doesn’t go to sleep. I’ve got this game called BloodRayne and I’m pretty sure it’s…… ;)
Comment by Stuart — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 6:15 pm
Nonono you have it backwards – having an infant is awesome – *sleep* is overrated. :P
Comment by Jess — Friday 4th, June 2004 @ 9:50 pm
@Stuart: oh…by accident, hmm…*ponders*
well i didn’t link to it cuz well…not sure if i got permission to use it…b-b-b-but i believe it’s Tony diTerlizzi, who did some dragons i showed you awhile a back…
his wife got a camera phone and was taking requests on her livejournal and well…she didn’t seem to want to send a picture of a pencil…:-D
@Jess: sleep is not overrated!
Comment by Lily — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 12:22 am
Stuart – smilies:
well see i was noticing that i missed text smilies cuz i like seeing the text too, right? i just do…
so i figured the ones that looked like :-P and such would not link to images but i allowed like the ones in : if people want them so you can put the razz in between colons if you want or maybe even grin or whatever the other ones are…
sorry
i just like seeing the text :)
Comment by Lily — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 12:24 am
Ok, sleep *is* quite nice. But when you have an infant it’s something you just have to forfeit at times (but it’s worth it considering the joys of mommahood and all). So in that sense, it’s overrated. ;)
Comment by Jess — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 12:54 am
mommahood joys are overrated!

Comment by Lily — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 4:30 pm
@Jess – I know it’s in May there. It’s a month late. It’s in April here. I wasn’t talking about that I was talking about tomorrow although as I write this it’s already tomorrow here.
@Lily – no tricks. Honest.
Comment by Stuart — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 7:19 pm

Comment by Lily — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 7:44 pm
@Stuart – Ahh in France I believe (and some other countries?) Mother’s Day is June 6th. So it’s your birthday then? HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYY!! Woot!
@Lily – I’m not suffering. ;)
Comment by Jess — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 9:14 pm

Comment by Lily — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 10:06 pm
@Jess – I thank you but my point was that it’s my son’s birthday. You’ll get those.
@Lily – I’m beginning to think you don’t read my posts – you just go straight to the comments. Mind you, you have been busy.
:dragon2:
Comment by Stuart — Saturday 5th, June 2004 @ 11:19 pm
@Lily – If I’m in denial it’s a happy denial. So I’m not complaining. :P
@Stuart – True. I fear his first is coming around too quickly! ;_; Happy birthday to all you birthday people! :D
Comment by Jess — Sunday 6th, June 2004 @ 1:23 am
@Stuart: on your blog? i do read them…i do…but but…haven’t you seen the /confused parts?
my comprehension has gone seriously downhill of late :-(
@Jess: i am still sorry for you
Comment by Lily — Sunday 6th, June 2004 @ 3:41 am
@Lily – I wouldn’t waste your sympathy on me, there are far more deserving candidates for that. I love being a momma – wouldn’t trade it for anything, even sleep. :P
Comment by Jess — Sunday 6th, June 2004 @ 3:58 am
sympathy is never wasted

Comment by Lily — Sunday 6th, June 2004 @ 5:03 am
A Mac rant. That would be good. I never hear anything bad about Macs. They are always so “cool”. Go for it!!
Comment by Stuart — Sunday 6th, June 2004 @ 9:55 am

people mightn’t take me seriously though, they might just say it’s cuz i just don’t know how to do what i want to do or i’m ignorant or something :-)
