Serenity

I can’t wait for the Firefly movie. I really loved the series but I guess I’m a Joss Whedon fan. I was greatly upset when it was cancelled…but movie!!!

I need to see this movie…on big screen and then get it on DVD and put it beside my series DVDs.

“Aliens, you know, that’s something everybody else has done and is doing. It’s a great metaphor to play with, but it’s not what I’m interested in. I’m really interested in ‘you are there,’ in ‘you are a part of this.’ And I think aliens take you out of that. I also need to spend some time away from latex.” – Joss Whedon

Why did I like it? Because they’re all so funny :-)
Jayne (Adam Baldwin) is awesome.
Actually they’re all awesome….Zo&euml (Gina Torres) and Wash (Alan Tudyk).

Hmm…on a happy note I shall list them (them being the ones I want to list) (and later i might add links …) all here…

  • Mal (Nathan Fillion)
  • River (Summer Glau)
  • Kaylee (Jewel Staite)
  • Simon (Sean Maher)
  • Book (Ron Glass)
  • Inara (Morena Baccarin)
  • Badger (Mark A Sheppard)
  • Saffron (Christina Hendricks)
  • Tracey (Jonathan Woodward)

and links, links links!

  1. I only have one word: KEWL!!!!! Yeah! mmmmmm River…….. :)~ I wonder if Buffy and Angel will have their moment on the Big screen too?

    Way to go Josh!!!!

  2. Whats so special about it? Looks kind of boring and something along the lines of Star Trek clone. :-\

  3. I never heard of Firefly before (?!)…

  4. yay! a fan! cool thomasso :)

well vitaliy, i don’t know…some might say it was great because it didn’t have enough time to dig itself a deep hole..;-)
    but i loved it..
    there were no aliens!
did you catch any of it?
it was classic joss whedon and very very very funny
oh! i forgot something, they didn’t sweat the details like killing people who got in their way :-)
they weren’t really do-gooders per se, just a group of people who were doing mostly illegal jobs to get by…

mathibus: well, only 12 episodes aired last year (fall 2002 i think) and 15 were made…
i don’t know where else it got shown (aside from silly FOX and i think BBC maybe?)

  5. Lily, I’m going to throw my 2 cents on your weblog here and defend FireFly. :)

Well, it is NOTHING like StarTrek, Rodenburry (sp?) was on a totaly different paradigm then Josh Whedon (creator of TV, Buffy and Angle) who put a Wiled West slant on a Si-Fi futuristic idea of what Human existence would be like some 500 years from now. If you like Witty puns of todays society, amped with “bad luck” and “life goes on whit a positive attitude,” based on Murphey’s Law, then you might like Firefly. StarTrek does not have anything close to that of what FireFly is: two different concepts here. Only one season of FireFly was made before it was pulled off the air because of “lack of popular exposure” for this kind of content. To bad, Josh Whedon is a very good producer on the small screen: now the big screen? This could be interesting!

    mmmmmmmmm River :)~

  6. well i loved it :-)
but the only way i know to defend it is to sit someone down to watch the two hour Serenity … and then the other episodes in order!!!
    hehehe
well that and write paragraphs and paragraphs about how much i love it and why i love it and ya know and paragraphs..
    i got my friend hooked
she actually bought the dvds too!

  7. So, Star Trek, which I generally like, to me is like a political show, with adventure and aliens, yes, but a lot of intrigue and plotting (esp DS9) in basically an idealistic future world.
Firefly is a western, a funny updated, let’s fight, insult and kill people western, because life is hard. And the characters are just done perfectly.

  8. yay! :-)
    and what about Babylon 5?
    Anywayz…

  9. Babylon 5…remember me, stuck in Trinidad during the run of this show, when the only station that carried it folded, and only showed some/most of Season 1. I cannot comment on Babylon 5, although I suspect it was more political than Star Trek, which tried to be adventurous and always creatin new situations and species.

  10. i meant for the general person who watched b5 and may have thought at first it was a st clone or something…which i know it wasn’t
it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too melodramatic :-D

anywayz even if it were a clone, that wouldn’t negate it being a good show, right?

  11. RIGHT! :)

  12. Ah, so I might get to know it like, in a year. (So it did with The Office…)

  13. Lily(pad), I went to your links and now have a great asortment of Desk-Top photos to choose from. ….and I got some realy KEWL shots of River and Kaylee, thanks to you! Hey, I’m a guy, OK! You can have the guys… :)

  14. mmmmmm…. morena. :-)

  15. Like MaThIbUs I haven’t seen it either. I don’t think it’s aired over here yet. Generally takes a good 12 months for things to filter across the ocean so I shall simply wait with anticipation.

  16. I’m getting some errors showing at the top of the menu. Is that the “visitors online” plugin cuz it looks like the error message I was getting? I sorted mine so maybe I can help here.

  17. I loved Firefly it was a bummer it got cancelled. I’ll look for the movie too Lil. Thanks.

  18. Hey Lily(pad), you know, Josh Whedon is also doing “X-Men” in the Marvel Comics Books! This guy is everywhere! I seen a preview on TV, they look very good…. hummmmmmm maybe I should buy one….. ;-)

  19. Hey Stuart: they were shown in the UK…all the episodes, even the unaired ones! i don’t remember the station but i remember the discussions on the alt.tv.firefly thingy
and i don’t have any plugins installed except the default ones…don’t know what’s up

wj: you’re back? wow! i’m so out of it!

    thomasso: i’m not a pad! :-P

mathibus: hopefully it’ll come to you one day

and yeah…another fan (Laika) (((hugs)))) :)

  20. If it’s been aired here it must have been on satellite or cable cuz, being a sci-fi freak, I would definitely have watched it if it was on one of our “normal” channels.

  21. Those errors don’t appear in your nomal blog, they only appear on the “stats” and “archives” pages. The one in “stats” is calling for something in your “my-hacks” file. The one in “archives” talks about votes so I assume it has something to do with your polls, in fact checking the source suggests they are both concerned with polls. I did spot a polls plugin at the WP forum yesterday.

  22. Hey Stuart!
thanks for checking that for me
i haven’t upgraded to the plugins for those things yet … and since the poll stopped working since i upgraded (at least i got time to upgrade … *sigh*)
i was supposed to make those links invisible, but i didn’t get around to doing it
    thanks for reminding me

i will be able to check these things…soooooooon
    sniffle
    and keep uptodate
    sniffle

  23. Sorry Lily.. :( …., no more pad :)

If you are in Canada, you can see Firefly on the Space Channle: check out their website, for other locations and TV stations on Cable.

    http://www.spacecast.com/

You can get more links about Firefly also there…. :)

  24. hey it’s no biggie :)

    more firefly
    mmm

  25. lililililililililililily!

  26. hello webjoooooooooooooooooooonessssssssssssssssss

  27. just seeing if you are still about. haven’t seen much evidence of you lately. you never seem to come around anymore.

  28. So how is the paper going? I’m waiting for that Mac rant. And it’s definitely gone quiet not seeing all those “Lily” links in the comments not to mention “Jess”.

  29. well i’ve been swamped
with packing and writing and sleeping and stressing
i have too many books and too much clothes and too many boxes to ship :-(

  30. This show was awesome and not at all like any of the other Scifi shows. It was gritty, funny in an
offbeat kind of way and I was shocked when it was canceled by Fox. Bunch of idiots who didn’t know
a winner when they had one.

  31. idiots yes
and i’m probably not going to be able to see the movie when it comes out :-(
