I miss when I was a child and my parents could make most of my fears go away.
Like I have this memory of being afraid to die and don’t we all? And not being with my family anymore and such. And you know you always have these fears in the dark at night when you’re supposed to be going to sleep.
I remember my dad staying by the side of my bed and talking to me and keeping me company and most likely also quoting Qur’an and Hadith for me and being generally soothing and there I think until I fell asleep.
I hate being grown up and having problems and it’s not as if your parents can make them go away anymore. Okay…maybe I don’t mind that so much but when it’s been like forever…and it seems like your problems won’t ever go away…
I don’t know what’s wrong with me (or maybe I do) but…then I wonder if it’s all a test of faith and maybe I’m doing miserably on it. But it all feels like torture right about now…
And I don’t want to go see a counsellor or a psychologist and talk about it.
Anywayz, one thing I sort of want is for my job to be permanent or if not permanent…at least a longer term contract.

Well, pay day at the university has arrived.
I believe my appointment letter is in the Dean’s office. It still has to go to HR.
Oh well, maybe I might get paid in November…
*sigh*
and we’re going out tonight, my sister and I to an Iftar which is where people break their fast, sponsored by the Mount Hope Islamic Society.
wish my luck on my social venture!

Hey, tonight is the 3rd night of Ramadhan and tomorrow will be the 3rd day of Ramadhan. And guess what, I am now 26 according to the Muslim lunar calendar.
Well…unfortunately nobody really celebrates my birthday (either of them) and I won’t be receiving gifts or chocolate.
But ah well!!.
And I’m not even fasting :-(

Our family started Ramadhan tonight and the first day of fasting will be on Saturday. So, we’re going to be fasting for the whole month…
And Insha Allah I’ll be home for the whole of it and for ‘Id (the celebration at the end of the month of fasting). I’m sooo very happy because I’ve missed all 6 ‘Id’s in the last three years. We have two ‘Ids or two holy days, one that celebrates the end of fasting and one that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (saw) sacrifice which is at the end of Hajj (pilgrimage). And I should get them all at home this year as I have no plans.
Yay!
Unfortunately because I’ve been rather sickly lately, even though I am going to try to fast tomorrow, I am probably not going to be able to make it, nor am I going to fast the whole month. :(
