I hope I spelt all that right.
almond
How do you pronounce almond? ah-mond or al-mond?
If you’re Guyanese you don’t need to answer this question.
islamic
Where did this word come from?
Almost every time I hear it, it jars. It just doesn’t sound right.
Islamic people.
Islamic whatever.
Okay, I might give Islamic Architecture an okay…but otherwise…well, Islamic books etc.
Wait, the really annoying one is Islamics.
You know, I think quite possibly my whole life I never used the word Islamic as a noun.
I am not an Islamic.
I am not an Islamic woman.
My religion is Islam.
I am Muslim.
*sigh*
I am probably being silly…but still…
stupid word…but that’s just me.
Oh, and as far as I know (correct me if I’m wrong) it’s a soft ’s’, not Iz-lam or Muz-lim but Iss-lam or Muss-lim.
I’m no good at spelling pronunciation.
I don’t speak for anybody else because I never asked anybody else.

Get Digicel to unlock sister’s phone because of false promises.
Grrr.
The customer service rep said they should when we go into the dealer store.
Let’s see.
Or maybe they’ll get their roaming issues fixed in 3 weeks.
Grrr.

My sister left today to go to Scotland on holiday.
So today we went out shopping for a Digicel pre-paid phone. We got a cute little motorola quad-band that should allow her to roam when she hits the UK (and even when she’s travelling for work). Anywayz this is what we hope and we eagerly await her reports, or should I say her texts when she hits Heathrow or else I will be *sorely* disappointed.

Mom and I made pizza today.
Nice wholewheat crust with sesame seeds.
We didn’t bother ourselves with any meat pizza. That was just too much stress…deveining and skinning shrimp or finding the tin of crab meat or even cooking minced beef. Stress!

My sister and I intend to go to Hajj this coming year (December…), but we haven’t made any plans yet.
My mom was talking about how dad was in Guyana and she didn’t think he talked to the group leader that we would intend to go with so she doesn’t know what’s going on. I told her that my sister and I did intend to go…but oops…don’t know what to do.
Then I asked if, while we were gone, she would go stay with her granddaughter for that time. You know, her one and only grandchild.
She says that no she’s going to see her son. You know, her one and only son who if you recall is in Makkah and thus this means she’s making Hajj too. Son trumps granddaughter!
Then she walks away to pray and walks back and says, you know, she didn’t think of that. Maybe it’s better she goes to stay with her granddaugher! Granddaugther trumps son! I laugh with glee and can’t wait to go email my brother this information.
Then she comes back and says, well you know her granddaughter has her father (not to mention her mother), so better she goes to see her son. Darn! Son trumps granddaughter!
I think I should tell her that her son will have his father and maybe she’ll rethink it.
But then I could tell her but her granddaugher has her mother and her son won’t have it and maybe she’ll rethink that one too!.
Who knew how much trouble there could be when a grandchild was born. Which is more important. Oh my poor mother. How will she cope!
