Son trumps granddaughter?
My sister and I intend to go to Hajj this coming year (December…), but we haven’t made any plans yet.
My mom was talking about how dad was in Guyana and she didn’t think he talked to the group leader that we would intend to go with so she doesn’t know what’s going on. I told her that my sister and I did intend to go…but oops…don’t know what to do.
Then I asked if, while we were gone, she would go stay with her granddaughter for that time. You know, her one and only grandchild.
She says that no she’s going to see her son. You know, her one and only son who if you recall is in Makkah and thus this means she’s making Hajj too. Son trumps granddaughter!
Then she walks away to pray and walks back and says, you know, she didn’t think of that. Maybe it’s better she goes to stay with her granddaugher! Granddaugther trumps son! I laugh with glee and can’t wait to go email my brother this information.
Then she comes back and says, well you know her granddaughter has her father (not to mention her mother), so better she goes to see her son. Darn! Son trumps granddaughter!
I think I should tell her that her son will have his father and maybe she’ll rethink it.
But then I could tell her but her granddaugher has her mother and her son won’t have it and maybe she’ll rethink that one too!.
Who knew how much trouble there could be when a grandchild was born. Which is more important. Oh my poor mother. How will she cope!
