Well, I took notes.
I wrote down the links I used for reference.
But alot of the help came from the IRC channel on Linux Chix (irc.linuxchix.org, #linuxchix) and warthog9.
I am blissful.
I will post it all here so that I can reuse it and not lose it you know :)
I did it all on a live edubuntu cd so it’s not saved. The ultimate test will be doing it again on a live linux (any flavour) cd or installing to the hard disk and doing it.
Ooo…will I go cold turkey? Linux only? If I dual-boot, how will I partition?
Well, it was the best birthday gift ever :)
My sister bought me a bar of chocolate from Grenada Chocolate Company.
I think I shall have it today.
Man. I love window shopping for hardware
and bags
and plane tickets…
And by window shopping I mean browser windows.
But when you actually come down to doing it…it’s stressful.

I am building my PC.
I want it wireless…well for our wireless network at home.
Yes, the router does support about 4 wired connections but it’s running those cables…I don’t want to.
So, I need to find a wireless card that works easily with Ubuntu.
When, I put Linux (Ubuntu, Mepis, Knoppix) in our old Compaq with a PCMCIA card (D-Link DWL-G650) worked pretty much out of the box. I didn’t have to do any evil ndiswrapper. I didn’t even know about any madwifi or prism whatever. Why can’t I get a PCI card that’ll work so easily? If only I knew then how lucky I was…or maybe I’ll get one and it *will* work out of the box. I just wish someone would tell me which one :(
Some time soon…God willing, well…August.
Ho-hum
Still have to find the parts and buy them to build other “new” computer…*sigh*
and get my parents to choose their desktop.
*trepidation*
What’s the most you’ve ever spent on eBay?
And the most you’ve spent on eBay on a computer?
What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a used computer?
There’s this really really cute computer that I’ve always wanted but never got…*sigh*
Might be kinda ridiculous/pointless to get one but…
