Independence Day
Today…is Independence Day in Trinidad & Tobago.
I also think Jamie got his PhD!

I recently bought a Motorola V360 phone in Guyana.
I think it is usually GSM 850/1800/1900 or GSM 900/1800/1900.
Well, this was both unlocked and quad-band.
It’s okay.
I don’t *hate* Motorola anymore and I like it and got it at a decent price.
And since it’s quad-band, I can use it with Digicel in Trinidad & Tobago (850/1900, my main cell phone), bMobile in Trinidad & Tobago (1800…which I may or may not keep around…it is cheaper to use it for landlines but the quality seems to suck very much and also…I can send text messages to my brother with this phone) and when I wander back to Guyana and use GT&T (900). I have a heard a rumour of Digicel moving to Guyana also. And my Digicel SIM was able to roam in Guyana (well receive calls…I couldn’t figure out what codes to dial to make calls but Chennette has sent and received texts with her Digicel T&T).
Well though this was happily unlocked…they were like phones from China or somewhere close by. The languages on my phone are English, Chinese (?) and Bahasa Melayu (Malaysian language?). It also had loads of Web Sessions on it (profiles that stored the MMS and GPRS and WAP settings). These were editable but not deletable…I couldn’t edit the name. This posed a problem as I needed two profiles for Digicel but only had one free space. I could’ve just edited one and left the name as is but I wanted a better solution to delete these profiles.
Well for various reasons I still had to file US Federal and State taxes this year.
I finally got my federal refund back.
And oddly enough it is $3.71 more than I claimed…
Or the Surprise Cookbook Swap or the Unplanned Cookbook Swap..
Whichever best describes it, I have a new cookbook!
Baking By Flavor by Lisa Yockelson.
Now I need to bake! :-)
Well the wedding was today…or yesterday.
He’s all married now.
It was in the bride’s masjid.
We *shipped* them off the island for a honeymoon.
This should be interesting.
We made the sweet boxes and her family took care of location/food. There were nice green boxes, tied with yellow, green and purple ribbons. Inside we put (trini) gulab jamoon, barfi, nankhatai (spelling?) and lindt truffles.
More later…probably.
I do like my sister-in-law so far.
All three of us sisters.
And I’m trying to do this properly…configuring for the best security I can do…
So, I’m trying to get mac addresses for the various machines that may or may not be on our network (yes, I know these can be cloned or whatever).
So, I emailed my siblings:
send me your mac address
so i can add u to router stuff
