Well, since I was at home before 7 pm as opposed to after 9 pm (since I had no class), I was able to start packing early as our flight left Trinidad at 6:30 am. Of course, I *didn’t* start packing early.
I was…tired…but didn’t sleep because I had to pack.
We woke up at 2:45 am (well I woke dad up…did I sleep?? no) so as to leave at 3:45. We intended to eat Suhur in the car on the way (which is when we would normally be eating Suhur) and then check-in and then after check-in pray Fajr salah. This all went as planned. We made sandwiches after we got ready in the morning, took two bottles of water in the car, one carrying mug of coffee and thanked our friend profusely for dropping us to the airport.
Ashmead Choate did the juz on IBN. He sat on the ground and seemed to be slower than everyone else.
I didn’t really watch. I’d had not much sleep so went to try. I didn’t get any so I just waited on mom while she was getting ready to catch her flight to Guyana.
Then, I slept from 11 am all the way to 3 pm and then woke up and rushed around to get ready for my infamous accidentally cancelled class. I was supposed to be getting a taxi but I think he forgot or was late so thankfully dad was on his way back early as his infamous class didn’t happen.
I really think sleeping through the fast is sort of pointless because…you’re just sleeping, not fasting but hey, what you gonna do? :-)
I broke this fast at work waiting on dad to pick me up once again…earlier than expected…!
I’m not sure why my dad and I bothered tryingn to have classes this week.
When dad got the news on Tuesday he just didn’t have his afternoon full time class and decided to come straight home. One of the grad students/assistant lecturers called all his M.Sc. students to say no class in the evening.
We decided mom would leave on Wednesday and we’d come on Thursday thus I would cancel my Thursday afternoon class and Saturday morning class.
Well, mom’s going to Guyana today, lunch time and dad and I are going on Thursday morning. We’ll eat Suhur on the way to the airport.
Hopefully we can be of some help.
I’m cancelling my Thursday and Saturday classes.
Also, the reciter for Qur’an this morning was Haafiz Abdullah. A Haafiz is someone who knows the whole Qur’an by heart. He sounded quite nice. What annoyed me tho, was that this 3rd Juz starts of in the second Sura (chapter – Baqarah) and continues on into the third Sura (Imran). So in the break between the Surahs they played their ads or ran their slideshow ads. They didn’t cut other people’s recitations. They’re in control and people won’t mind so WHY WHY WHY! They should’ve played the whole Juz.
Also, this reciter didn’t end with Saddaqallah … (I can’t transliterate well but it means Allah the great has spoken the truth). Once upon a time after a recitation we’d end with that. But there is no reason to. It is actually Biddah (Innovation) and frowned on. The second reciter, according to my mom, should’ve known better. She was happy to see this one didn’t end with it.
Well, we were all mixed up today.
We went downstairs to break fast in a daze.
I got out water and mom’s like get something to drink!
Or, I bought you banana soft drink and I’m like, to break fast???
So we had cake and dates again.
And then from out of nowhere she pulls out this container with wedding sweets leftovers…THE LAST NANKATAI (which she said she saved for me) and the last Lindt truffle. She took the truffle and then offered/gave it to me.
They tasted so good. I haven’t had a proper chocolate fix in awhile.
Neither has she.
She asked Chennette to buy chocolate for her on her way back to Guyana and i’m like so mom, you’ll forget to buy for yourself. So she said! She forgot! Chennette doesn’t have to buy anymore. I hope Chennette still buys because my mom is so frazzled she might forget.
I need some chocolate.
I’m so worried about the family.
:(
My sister’s sister-in-law was shot dead in Guyana about four hours ago.
They held up her store and emptied out the cash register and then shot her dead.
I was going to stop this because I don’t want it be…ooh I’m fasting…ooh I’m praying and people (the few) might misconstrue this. But my sister says she feels disconnected so maybe she can pretend to be virtually here.
I had toasted onion bagels and cream cheese and slices of tomato (a whole tomato) and slices of avocado and lots of water and only two pills.
Dad had plain bagels and butter. Last night the plan had been to have croissants. Not sure what happened with that. Mom had biscuits but I don’t know what with. They must have had coffee.
I told dad it was my lunar birthday.
Last night on IBN about 2 or 3 people took Shahadah (converted to Islam). I wonder if they keep count of how many have? Good thing we’re only about 6% of the population else we might run out of people to convert/revert.
Insha Allah, I shall keep this fast too. However work starts back today so I am uncertain as to how I shall feel.
