Very X-men-ny
I guess that’s the point.
I like how the art has sorta changed too.
And this is just too funny.
I *love* Applegeeks.

So, I (and sister) built my new computer recently.
I was all set to install Ubuntu on it.
But Ubuntu (32 bit and 64 bit) causes my lovely new 64-bit machine to kernel panic.
So since Knoppix, Gentoo and DSL didn’t (all live distros) I wasn’t too worried. I am still curious as to why this kernel panicking is occuring but…another time maybe.
Since I love Debian so much, and Fedora Core DVD is taking forever to download (for some obvious reasons) I got the net install disc for Debian and then apt-getted the basic desktop.
And once again started working on getting madwifi and my D-Link AG530 wireless PCI card working. I had tried on Ubuntu (when a server is installed alone no kernel panic. Once I install gnome…gdm…ubuntu-desktop…YIKES!)
So I reached the same stage. My wireless card would scan and see the networks but once I tried to get an IP via DHCP…no no no. No DHCP offers.
I got some walk through help from the IRC channel (irc://irc.freenode.net/madwifi) but then had to sleep so….
two days later (I had turned all wireless security off so that it wouldn’t impede with anything) I finally turned wireless security back on and…here’s the idiot moment….after fiddling through my settings to see if we had any intruders when it was unsecured…it occurred to me that I HAD WIRELESS MAC FILTERS ENABLED!
GAH!
AND OF COURSE I DIDN’T ADD THE NEW WIRELESS CARD MAC ADDRESS TO THE LIST!!!
ARGH!
So I turned that off, turned on machine, tried connecting again…and tada!
I’ve now added it to the list.
/me is idiot
