Ramadhan Mubarak and TV

Assalamu ‘Alaykum and Ramadhan Mubarak!

Our Ramadhan started last night after sunset (as it was the first sunset/night/day after 30 days of the previous month) and we had Tarawih salaah (special prayers during Ramadhan that are done after the last prayer of the night). I didn’t go to the masjid but I prayed at home. I’m praying that I can make most of this Ramadhan.

This morning we woke up and had Suhur (morning meal before dawn, last time to eat before the fast starts) and didn’t listen to “Our Respected Leader” on the radio (I can’t remember his name…oh well…) Instead West Indies is playing Australia in a cricket one day final in Malaysia. Australia was batting and while we were eating we got one wicket so their score when I left the table was 185-5 after about 43 overs.

Last night IBNtv Channel 8 (Islamic Broadcasting Channel) said they would be starting programming at 4:15 am so we switched to see what was up. Well at first they were showing Sura Luqman as is usual. After 5 minutes we switched it back and they were showing one Hadith about Suhur/Sehri. This lasted about 10 minutes so we went back to watching cricket.

After a bit we switched again and this time they were running a slide show of Hadith and then I think Qur’anic ayahs while playing recitations. Hmm…I know they said they were doing no live broadcasts during Ramadhan but I was all sure we might’ve at least had an intro or something.

Oh well, the nice thing is that from 5am – 6am every day they’re going to have different people reciting a Juz of Qur’an so they should finish by the end of the month. I wonder if I’ll be awake or sleeping. I wonder who the reciters will be. (I was going to update as to whom recited but I missed the beginning (like a couple minutes) and they didn’t say afterwards!!!)

For Suhur, I had two tuna melt sandwiches (solid white tuna, whole wheat bread, lettuce, cheddar), less than half a (gros michel?) banana and lots of water!!!

Ok…and am theming or at least intending to theme…

  1. sigh, keeping up with Ramadhan.. I feel a bit disconnected

  2. Well, that’s how I felt when I was away.
But I think these are boring pedantic posts and maybe I shouldn’t make ‘em :)

  3. Blessed Ramahdan to you, my friend!

    Are you theming?

  4. AH, it’s transliteration so as long as the phonetics are okay, it’s fine :)
Different people will spell it differently

But…YOU MUST SPELL MY NAME RIGHT :-D

    (((hugs)))

  5. But I like Lily better than Lilly, and the name I really really like I’m not allowed to use on lj becuase the one time I did you jumped up and down, waved your arms, and said something about sisters and mothers finding you blog. :P~

  6. Lol
I think my mother found my blog.
    But still…work

Also, you can spell it Lily. I *prefer* Lily but since my user name is silly, it would look very sily with one l

    see: silly_lily
    or: sily_lily

so i compromised by adding an extra L.

So, the rule for this is, always one L except when paired with silly! :)

  7. I would like to make a new theme for my blog.
    Not red and not green.
    Kinda white and sunflowery.
So, I’d like some images…but I need to look but while I’m at it I can start making the pages look okay

    So, I haven’t started yet

    and thank you! :)

  8. Ramadhan – pretend I spelled it correctly, ok?

  9. [...] I was going to stop this because I don’t want it be…ooh I’m fasting…ooh I’m praying and people (the few) might misconstrue this. But my sister says she feels disconnected so maybe she can pretend to be virtually here. [...]

  10. silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly silly lilly

    hehe

  11. YOU IDIOT!

  12. what? you said it was ok! you don’t want me calling you by the REAL nickname you derived the cute one from do you?

  13. hmm
