Do you know what my dad has been doing?

He’s been using MY iMAC!!!

Can you believe it?
He didn’t want a mac.
He got a WINDOWS LAPTOP!

And now, his windows laptop is sitting on his desk and he comes and uses my iMac.

Ramadhan 3: My Lunar Birthday

Yes folks, according to the Islamic Calendar, I was born on the 3rd of Ramadhan and thus tonight, I turn 28!

Eeep.

Remember, my birthday is from sunset today to sunset tomorrow.

Ramadhan 2: Suhur and more

Well, I did pray my Tarawih prayers yesterday.

For Suhur today, we didn’t put on the tv, neither did we listen to the radio program.
I had 4 slices of toasted whole wheat bread and avocado, lots of water and a banana. I think this banana will stay with me throughout the day.

Yesterday I read…15 ayah from the Qur’an and today I think I did…13. I should try for more during the day, wish me luck. Let’s see how far I reach at the end of the month.

But I did tune in for IBN’s Recitation. Of course, by the time I prayed and read from the Qur’an, I’d missed the beginning of the second Juz and the introduction (if there was any). It was Musab (there technical assistant or something). I’ve heard his older siblings recite (some long time ago and they were always good).

I didn’t see him drinking any water which means it was live and thus he was fasting (but there was a cut coming to the end so probably not live), it was recorded yesterday when he was fasting or it was recorded at some time when he wasn’t fasting but they decided not to drink anything so as to mislead people.

Anywayz, now I am sleepy and what time shall I wake up today? Who knows!

She’s not good at maths

and neither are her female friends.
So she thinks all women aren’t good at maths.
I think she also said she was a feminist.

*sigh*

Maybe this is why she can’t tell the difference between a majority and a minority.
And if she’s not good at maths, I wonder how good her logic is?

*stomp*

Fasting

What is fasting?

It is abstaining from food and drink (and sex and bad things) from dawn to sunset.
We’re also supposed to use this time to engage in extra prayers, and in trying to improve our religious life as it is concentrated and a most holy month.
And then when it’s done, we try to keep our good habits for the rest of the year.

That’s just a basic explanation :)

Ramadhan 2

Today was also Republic Day in Trinidad & Tobago. Beacause it’s a Sunday, tomorrow is a public holiday! Yay! NO SCHOOL!

For Iftar (breaking of the fast at sunset), I had water and a slice of box cake. I resisted mom’s trying to push dates on me because it was the Sunnah. IBNtv Channel 8 had whatshisname (yes, I know *his* name), break his fast on tv with us.

Then we went to pray Maghrib (sunset prayer) and afterwards we had dinner.

What did we have for dinner? Baked chicken pieces, fry rice and avocado and water.

I think the only reason I managed this fast was that I slept until about 1pm. I guess that’s what happens when you go to sleep at 7am instead of as soon as you pray after Suhur. And then slept in the afternoon still…I’m one sleepy lady!

Oh, I also treated myself to Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream and cake! :)

Haven’t prayed Isha (night prayer) and Tarawih (special Ramadhan prayer) yet…

Unfiled

I’m doing the unthinkable.
For a long time now, I’ve hated my categories. They’re not right. There’s too much of them. They never suit what I post.

So, I just deleted them ALL and so most of my posts will say Unfiled.
I’m slowly creating some that hopefully are more descriptive and suitable for my blog and going through…TWO YEARS or so of posts and properly categorizing (and privating) them.

Am I a glutton for punishment or what???
