Ramadhan Mubarak and TV

Assalamu ‘Alaykum and Ramadhan Mubarak!

Our Ramadhan started last night after sunset (as it was the first sunset/night/day after 30 days of the previous month) and we had Tarawih salaah (special prayers during Ramadhan that are done after the last prayer of the night). I didn’t go to the masjid but I prayed at home. I’m praying that I can make most of this Ramadhan.

This morning we woke up and had Suhur (morning meal before dawn, last time to eat before the fast starts) and didn’t listen to “Our Respected Leader” on the radio (I can’t remember his name…oh well…) Instead West Indies is playing Australia in a cricket one day final in Malaysia. Australia was batting and while we were eating we got one wicket so their score when I left the table was 185-5 after about 43 overs.

Last night IBNtv Channel 8 (Islamic Broadcasting Channel) said they would be starting programming at 4:15 am so we switched to see what was up. Well at first they were showing Sura Luqman as is usual. After 5 minutes we switched it back and they were showing one Hadith about Suhur/Sehri. This lasted about 10 minutes so we went back to watching cricket.

After a bit we switched again and this time they were running a slide show of Hadith and then I think Qur’anic ayahs while playing recitations. Hmm…I know they said they were doing no live broadcasts during Ramadhan but I was all sure we might’ve at least had an intro or something.

Oh well, the nice thing is that from 5am – 6am every day they’re going to have different people reciting a Juz of Qur’an so they should finish by the end of the month. I wonder if I’ll be awake or sleeping. I wonder who the reciters will be. (I was going to update as to whom recited but I missed the beginning (like a couple minutes) and they didn’t say afterwards!!!)

For Suhur, I had two tuna melt sandwiches (solid white tuna, whole wheat bread, lettuce, cheddar), less than half a (gros michel?) banana and lots of water!!!

Ok…and am theming or at least intending to theme…

Trini theme?

Now this is a nice one!

I think it’s from this guy.

Poor Processor

I did kill it!

I checked the processor pins.
They were bent.

*sob*

I killed my Frankenstein!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

I don’t know what happened.
I took out the old fan and put in the new fan (I cleaned the paste and reapplied some more).
And it wouldn’t boot.
No BIOS at all.
I started disconnecting drives. No boot.
I took out PCI and video card. No boot.
But the fan runs. And before I took out the wireless PCI card it had blinking lights.
I reconnected power thingies. No boot.
I removed RAM. Re-seated RAM. Swtiched RAM in the slots. Put one stick of RAM in a slot at a time. No boot.

I plugged the monitor into the laptop to see if that was the problem. Brilliant display! So that’s working

I worked hard to put together the old fan and put it back in.

IT’S NOT BOOTING!!!

Did I kill my processor??

I’m not getting any of those beeps people talk about which must mean it’s bad.
I don’t know what to do.
This is seriously going to be a learning experience.
What if I buy a new processor and that’s *not* the problem, what then??

New fan for my Frankenstein!

So, I finally decided that instead of *monitoring* the fan I would just buy a new one and stop worrying.

I walk into a computer store with mom and my motherboard manual (in case people think I’m stupid and in case I think they are stupid)…and ask if they have any fans.

The guy says no, not at the moment.

So, I ask, when will you get some…

At *this* point he asks me what kind and I may say for my computer and start pulling out manual while my mother goes well I hope it’s for a computer (now, *I* do know there are CPU fans, Case fans, PS fans, extra fans, System fans…but I start simple). So, when I say for my processor he says yes, what kind and sees my book and takes it.

But what my mother and I don’t get is…why did he say no?
I mean I wasn’t specific about what kind of fan. I know this. But he said no without asking what kind I wanted. Mom says he was busy chatting so maybe he didn’t want to do anything else. And then it turns out YES he does have one.

I’m a week behind on House

…and have avoided spoilers so this has probably already been said…

But I still find it funny: “Then come up with a cunning plan and fast!”

Cut off your nose to spite your face

My mother has decreed that she won’t buy an iMac until I clean my room.
*sigh*
My room is clean.
Just not up to her standards.
She can just not come in here, is all.
Yes mommy! I’ve said it to you and you can read this here too.

I mean, how am *I* suffering if she doesn’t buy an iMac? I think three computers is more than enough for me. I have my cute old iMac. An Intel iMac might be nice to play with but it wouldn’t be mine. I don’t think she’s thought this through.

Anywayz in the quest to *organize* my room (three computers, one desk takes some organization so I’m comfortable) she wandered in and suggested I could put out my iMac so she could use it too (nooo…so I could put my new PC on the desk…that’s what she said and also she could have practise for her iMac).

Which is it, mother dearest???

For peace and harmony, it is outside of my room…
It is nice to watch things on tho…
