Xubuntu Edgy broke my wireless
I just installed Xubuntu Edgy on my powerbook…
A fresh install.
First of, yaboot didn’t pick up on my OSX installation and I’m really not sure why! :-(
The splash screen when Xubuntu is loading is horrible…colours bleeding or something. I thought it might mean my GUI mightn’t be nice either but it was fine.
And I’m not sure what to do about my wireless. I shall try again I guess.
And there were very detailed instructions to configure my keyboard and I’m pretty sure I messed that up.
Yikes.
I forgot to test my trackpad.

[...] *sigh* I guess I was either extracting from the wrong file…or something…good thing I had the old one saved. [...]

Hey Lily, I had a similar thing with Edgy and wireless. It seems in Dapper, Ubuntu read my wireless port as the cable port and vice versa. So when I installed Edgy, I expected it to be the same way only it wasn’t. Edgy got them right. Maybe it’s looking at your connections similarly. :-)

I think it wasn’t Edgy. It was the AppleAirport2 that I used for the firmware extraction. It’s the same file just…it gave trouble and I have no clue why.
I’m glad you got yours working tho!
I’d been wondering if I upgraded too early and if LTS was right for me and not Edgy!
