Digital Camera HELP!
First, to mail my Canon PowerShot S400 to Canon in the USA for roughly TT$100 to TT$200 (about US$15 to US$30) for them to check if it’s problems are due to this defect (CCD Image Sensory Defect) and if it is, they’ll fix it. If not, they’ll ask me if I’m willing to pay for it to be fixed. When done, they’ll mail it somewhere in the US.
Well if they’re fixing it for free yay!
If not, should I let them fix it …well I guess it depends on how much it costs. I spent say US$350 or thereabouts on my camera in December 2003. How much would one be willing to spend to fix it.
Well, when it gets mailed to somewhere in the USA, I will eventually get it somehow.
If only I could get it to the USA then I could mail it to Canon for free. Oh well.
On to other things…replacing? should i? would you?
Man, it seems hard to replace a Canon S400. You read all the reviews of other cameras and it seems like just more pixels. It shouldn’t just be about more megapixels.
Oh well considerations:
- Canon PowerShot A640
- Canon PowerShot A710
- Canon PowerShot SD800 (because for some reason people prefer this to the SD900 even tho it’s got MEGAPIXELS) or maybe the SD700
- Canon PowerShot S3 IS
- Canon PowerShot G7 (which doesn’t seem to compare to the G6 in some people’s minds).
- Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W100
There are many reviews in many places.

Who knows.
Maybe it’ll be fixable and I won’t want to buy a new one.
