Evil Doctor Held Me to Ransom!

Or…held my vaccine to ransom.
What was the ransom demand? Continue, dear reader.

Chennette and I went to the doctor to get our follow-up shots. Although we are no longer going on Hajj, we may as well get our vaccines updated and then next year, Insha Allah, we won’t have to worry about them.

Chennette went in and came out some time later. She didn’t get her shots as her blood pressure was a tad bit high and you know, she’s been sick. The doctor didn’t want to chance it. (She’s a worrier who can worry because she has low blood pressure.)

I thought to myself that this didn’t bode well for me as I seem to be afflicted with hypertension and haven’t been taking any meds lately. Well…wooohooo my blood pressure was super high and she didn’t feel comfortable giving me any shots. She also wanted to prescribe meds for me but wouldn’t be comfortable doing that unless I was a patient of hers and had a complete physical.

So, since she had me there and was holding my vaccines to ransom…I now have loads of meds.

And one day later b/p still high and no vaccines yet again.

My head hurts.

  1. For the record, the doctor has always been a worrier. Ever since primary school. Despite our best efforts, she’s also convinced that all patients lie about not fearing needles, and watches us like a hawk after our shots to see if we’ll faint. She pretends she’s not; but she’s pretty transparent. And she thinks it’s funny that I am allergic to direct strong sunlight and now bananas, but at least she pays attention and asks questions. And I gave her a typhoid case…expanding her repertoire I told her.

  2. And didn’t want to tell me she was going to stick me for blood sugar! (man! tiny pin prick) before testing my blood pressure because she was afraid she’d raise it.

I mean, I may never want to be a doctor but…um…injections and pricks? I got over that in primary school.
