Nikon D80 v Nikon D50
So, we’ve pretty much decided…
The D50 is very entry-level and going on two years old.
The D80 is probably still entry-level but more advanced that the D50 and newer. It has a DOF preview button, it has a bigger screen and some other stuff (is it enough other stuff?).

You know…don’t believe we are buying cameras until I post we’ve bought them and we have them. I’m starting to believe I’ll never get a camera (not even my Canon S400! which is by our sister’s in-laws) and the D50 mightn’t even be available when we actually buy :-(
So, I texted Chennette to tell her that maybe she should consider the D80 cuz she’s waaaay more serious than I am (can you see the trouble, by the way? Can you imagine looking at other cameras and being a greedy Lilandra, not wanting them?)
She texted back saying, didn’t I tell you I was thinking of it?
NO SHE DIDN’T…I almost had a heart attack…Ms Cheapskate who thought the XTi was too expensive? The d80 is like $200 more.
So, in summary, it may be that we buy two D50s, one D50 and one D80 or two D80s. Probably, one D80 and one D50 is the best option. Let’s just hope the happy spenders can actually restrain themselves.
Anywayz, I’ve cobbled together prices (in USD) and options for B&H Photo:

Who knows what to buy now…one body, two lenses, one SD card and one battery. Did I forget anything?
I was thinking of an 18-70mm lens and one of the 50mm lenses. I think the D80 can write the 133x speeds of the Lexar; I am not sure about the D50.
I think she was once dreaming of the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens…I’m not so sure about that tho.
*sigh*

[...] Where is it??? March 23rd, 2007 — chennette Now, I have been more or less enjoying my time in Barbados. I could do with more Barbados and less work, but c’est ma vie. It pays the bills. And was supposed to pay for my brand-new Nikon d80 DSLR. You remember the path Lilandra and I took to get here - the choices, the decision, the agony when she had to return her d50. But then! Cave Shepherd got d80s!! A little over 2 weeks ago. I happened to be passing through while in Bridgetown for a meeting when I saw them, but I couldn’t buy them just then. No ahm, “room” on my credit card and no return ticket to get the Duty Free price. They said they had 3 - even laughed when I asked how many they had in stock. [...]
