Kitchen Linux!

If you read my previous post on how to dispose of my third, rarely used computer, you will see that I’m thinking of putting it in the kitchen.

Well, mom says it sounds like a great idea! (She hasn’t commented saying that so I guess I have no proof.)

So, this is my new project.

But there’s no point in reinventing the wheel!
I’m sure lots of other people have kitchen computers and I know there are lots of people running Linux. Yes, it would be nice if I knew for sure if they intersected, but this is where Google will come.

I don’t know what people generally want in a kitchen computer (well, I’m thinking small form factor, you know Shuttle, Shoebox, Mac Mini, but we know that’s out) and I don’t know what I will want in a kitchen computer.

I guess, since I want to make least use of the keyboard, I may have to setup an automatic login (eep!) but I guess the automatic login user can be the lowliest of the low with only permission to execute very few programs and no remote login? I wonder if that’ll help.

What do I know!

Yeah…and recipe filers would be good too.

Wish me luck. I’m sure it’s not hard. The hardest part might be living with 800×600 resolution!
