Cricket World Cup: West Indies has been assigned position D2
yikes
this means, most likely I will be going to see West Indies play.
Oh my.
You might think, what’s the big deal, right?
I am supporting West Indies. They’re my team. I’m West Indian.
I just don’t think I can take the emotional attachment to the game…live…
:-(

Apparently it has something to do with seeded teams etc. See what happens when I wilfully refuse to pay attention to CWC BEFORE it started and now I am a bit lost on the details.
“Even if the West Indies top Group D, which would require a win against Ireland at Sabina Park on Friday, Brian Lara’s team will retain the D2 designation assigned to them in the match schedule. This principle applies to all seeded teams.” from http://caribbeancricket.com/news/2007/03/20/2355

Although reading people’s comments etc, many people were unclear on this notion.

my students had no clue about that either!
tho they did believe when i pulled up the match schedule and were like, miss you’re right because they said we were playing australia on (fill in the day) which has us listed as D2
it’s just so weird.
i wonder why they use seeds…
