Cricket World Cup: Seeding or why West Indies is D2

Well, I didn’t understand *why* there is seeding.
It seems Pakistan was seeded first in our group and if they qualified for Super Eight they’d've been D1 and we were seeded second so D2. Ireland qualified instead of Pakistan so they got slotted into D1.

It’s so frustrating; I was looking forward to an Ireland match, one I’m less emotionally invested in. However I shall be watching the *last* match of the Super Eight so hopefully most of the qualifiers for the semi-finals should be determined already (unless West Indies leaves it up to the last minute and edge of your seat worry *sigh*).

But I figured it out…I’m sure this is written somewhere if I cared to search/read.
It’s so people can buy tickets.
If you wanted to see West Indies play, you’d buy the first round tickets. And if you wanted to take a chance and buy tickets ahead of time for Super Eight and make sure you got West Indies, if they qualified, then you’d get tickets for the matches their seed will play. Once you qualify you get your seed, and not the other matches so you won’t be gambling (hoping to have bought the right tickets *if* they qualify).

I’m guessing this only worked for the 8 seeded times of course. If you weren’t one of the seeded teams, I guess you’d've just bought tickets to watch cricket, any cricket or not have bought tickets since you didn’t expect to get in…and just buy them when/if you qualify?

Oh well.
I’ll see West Indies. That’s good, right?

PS Bangladesh qualified for the Super Eight! HEHEHEHEHE

PHD Comics: Slackenerny is submitting!!

Felt I must post about this. Can’t just rant about comics I don’t like!
Look!!!

It all started here.

For Worser or for Best: Thank you ewe

Remember my rants on For Better or for Worse some time ago?
Well, I still check it out…but I don’t rant about it any more as if I’m still reading it and torturing myself then that’s my own fault. I should just stop.

Well ewe sent me this funny comic!

I don’t know if they have archives, so I’ve mirrored it here.

Cricket World Cup: West Indies vs Ireland

It happened a couple days ago.
We won! Yay!
But both the West Indies and Ireland are advancing to Super Eight.
Well, you know what I’m hoping for.
But, I’m also hoping that Ireland does well.

Also, India is most likely out of the competition (who knows what will happen with the Bangladesh vs Bermuda match that’s being rained on). I really don’t understand the violence and attack because your team lost/got kicked out. I understand depression and even bad talking the players but for them to be in fear for their life? One, it’s a game and two, it sounds like fair-weather fans to me.

Cricket World Cup: Ireland

I wonder if Ireland ever dreamed they would qualify for the next round (Super 8).

I wonder if anybody else ever thought it was possible.

Oh, way to go Ireland.
(Just don’t be so happy that you manage to beat us on Friday?)

Cricket World Cup: West Indies has been assigned position D2

yikes

this means, most likely I will be going to see West Indies play.
Oh my.

You might think, what’s the big deal, right?
I am supporting West Indies. They’re my team. I’m West Indian.

I just don’t think I can take the emotional attachment to the game…live…

Cricket World Cup: West Indies thru to Super Eight Round!

Yeah! We just beat Zimbabwe (them 202/5 and us 204/4).
And we’re advancing to Super Eight.

Now I’m in a quandary, we still have one match to play in this round against Ireland and Zimbabwe has to play Pakistan. I mean, seriously, Zimbabwe should beat Pakistan like everybody else (yes, Ireland, a minnow, beat Pakistan *snicker*) but if they beat Pakistan and we beat Ireland (we better beat Ireland *prays*) then they’ll decide which of Zimbabwe and Ireland will advance to Super Eight by net run rate and that’s too iffy.

*sigh*

I like the Zimbabwe team but I want Ireland to get to Super Eight.
That’s historic.
That’s…you know…good for all those people who had issues with the non-Test playing teams coming to World Cup.

But they can’t beat us…so oh well…I don’t control the future so I guess whoever gets in…gets in…

But still…West Indies and Ireland advancing sounds fine to me.
