How to tell if your mother is still recovering from being sick

I returned home from a two week trip to Guyana yesterday at 11 am.
We reached home at 1:30 pm.

On the way we stopped to see my sister-in-law and I opened one of my suitcases and took out some of the stuff that Big Sis sent for her.

It wasn’t until the next day (today!) 5 am, after we ate Suhur (meal before the start of the fast in Ramadhan) that my mom asked me if I had any dirty clothes.

Yesterday when I dragged myself upstairs I was so excited to tell my sisters that I wasn’t interrogated and no clothes were forcibly wrested from me. I slept. So I am announcing it to the WORLD!

By the way…Ramadhan (muslim month of fast) has started. We did our first fast on Thursday so RAMADHAN MUBARAK!

  1. Hmmmmmm…….

  2. I only asked but did not insist to get them from suitcase……..
Perhaps I am still ill or brainwashed enough by Lilandra so I just asked in passing………….

  3. You’re hysterical! Glad you had a good trip. I am happy to see you posting. How goes all else? Job? Boyfriend?? (*runs and hides*)

Blessed Ramadhan to you and your family!

  4. Wow. more than 12 hours??? Maybe I have been breaking her in by not letting dirty laundry escape from my suitcase…

  5. mom: ha! you were sick! i don’t have the power to brainwash supermom!

    pammy: very funny :-p

chennette: maybe but a month ago she took all the clothes from mine at the bottom of the stairs

  6. RAMADHAN MUBARAK, my friend.

  7. Hey thanks!
I *tried* to comment on your blog but it said I missed something…*sigh*

  8. Sigh. No one ever insists on doing my laundry anymore.

  9. poor ewe

i’m sure you insist on washing your boys clothes tho :-p

  10. Lilandra made Macaroni Pie yesterday and it was the best I have tasted in a long while. Comfort food for when it is raining and you are fasting and a bit under the weather. And she had KFC delivered to go with it and that was so nice …………….
    Thanks ……

  11. Lily - you must have dropped in while I was messing around with it. I normally make a new site in parallel and then switch over, but this time I thought “what the hell” and just changed it live. I see from your subsequent comment that I fixed whatever caused the problem.

My daughter, Skye, has a good friend from Sudan who’s observing Ramadan. I’m glad she has such friends so that she can appreciate other customs and points of view. Concepts like discipline and sacrifice are often lost on American kids.
