Thomasso!
I'll work on it.
I did see such options and did fiddle with them. If only I understood what they all meant!! :-)

And yes, the wireless card was so much a breeze to get working this install. *bliss*

Hey Lil,

Yes, that is the power of the open source community with Ubuntu. I use the Ubuntu web forum a lot, and it has saved by butt a few times. On my lap-top, it was the wireless card that refused to work. Found out later that I was installing the wrong driver for it....Yay for the help people.

Here is a trick that may help you down the road wqith doing recordings. On your Desk-top, top right hand corner, by default, you can double lick on the little speaker. That should open up your audio-control panel. Once open that, you will see in the top menu options, File ----> Change Device, and choose one of the audio devices listed. Odds are, you will see your proper recording device there: make sure your audio card is picked. Then check the Recording tab, make sure the mic is active, and the Switches Tab, see if the mic there is checked too. You need to play around with the different settings.

I'm doing pod-casts on mine. I bought a USB mic a year back, and it is great. Linux is very good for doing professional sound recording with.
