Baking Until I Drop

Argh! The Daring Bakers did it again!

*sigh*

Remember when last month the Daring Bakers made Lavash and I complained. I could’ve joined them. I actually made lavash from the same recipe that month.

Well guess what they baked this month!
See here!
Pizza.
From Peter Reinhart’s The Bread Baker’s Apprentice.

Yeah.
We all know what I have sitting in my freezer, right?
right?

In case you don’t know, let me refresh your memory:

Peter Reinhart Pizza: Veggie (pineapples, roasted green peppers, tomatoes, onions)

And I still am not a Daring Baker.

  1. Pizza is the only food that I really put an effort into replicating after having to go gluten free. I finally settled on using pao de queijo as the crust – just rolled very thin. It makes a very good crust.

  2. are those…cheese puffs?
    this?
    http://cookingresources.suite101.com/article.cfm/pao_de_queijo_recipe

    i like alternate pizza crusts
i’m trying to make a good whole wheat
i don’t think Reinhart is my favourite crust tho

When they are all done in my freezer, I’ll try Beranbaum

  3. see…these were signs all along…and you ignored them
come january when you “ready” to start, they’ll decide to do wedding cakes or sth so :-)

  4. I KNOW
no you told me i’d be busy
    hmph
silly napoleons and opera cakes and argh!
    *sob*

  5. Yes – cheese puffs – But I add a bit of baking powder for leavening. Gives the crust a bit more substance. I par-bake the crust before adding any toppings – that ensures that the crust doesn’t get soggy. I like my crust a bit crispy on the outside and chewy in the center.

  6. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….pizza.

Looks yummy. I don’t make my own pizza crust anymore…Lili has taken pizza night over, and she prefers French Bread pizza. I guess I need to get the appropriate pans for making baguettes…I don’t “free form” them very well, so we’ve been buying the baguettes from the grocery store.

  7. @Chiska: Hmm now I have to figure out if cheese puffs…are just puffs filled with cheese?

@Mary: it was good fresh out of the oven
but the next day, although good, didn’t like the crust as much

    i haven’t tried baguettes yet
tried ciabatta but didn’t come out quite right

  8. I am regularly seeing this blue background now.

  9. aka – it’s the new laminate on the kitchen table :-)
certain people are supposed to bring out their coloured papers for different backgrounds, but I suspect that will have to wait a while.

  10. you dont like it?
maybe after hajj the construction paper will come out
    i tired you know

  11. I think that blue goes good with food :)

  12. i like it too
but people might tell me it will look the same/boring after awhile :(
